Sparkle this Christmas with St Margaret’s Hospice Care

St Margaret’s Hospice Care is inviting everyone to ‘Sparkle this Christmas’ and help provide much-needed care to people across Somerset.

We're encouraging people to dress up in their glitziest gear for a day or put on a mince pie and cake sale, with fun props available from our website to help make your event even more jolly. Workplaces, schools, pubs and sports clubs can join in the festive fundraising drive in a variety of easy ways.

You can download or request an Easy Christmas Card for your friends and colleagues to sign, then ask them to donate the money they save on sending traditional cards to everyone in your workplace.

This year we're excited to offer a new e-card facility, allowing you to reduce your environmental impact by sending Christmas greetings online.

There will be lots of gift ideas in store at our Christmas Fayre at Crowcombe Court, between Taunton and Williton, on Thursday, November 28, from 2pm to 8pm.

And energetic fundraisers can join Yeovil Road Running Club’s popular Santa Dash – a sponsored 4km run on Sunday, December 8, at Yeovil Country Park.

Victoria Poole, area fundraising manager, said: “Christmas is a time for celebration and fun with friends, but it’s also a time when many people choose to do something to help others who are going through tough times.

“This year we’ve put together a variety of festive fundraising ideas and resources to make it easier than ever. Our Easy Christmas Card, e-cards and other fun props are available to download free from our website.

“Our dedicated nursing teams will be busy every day during the festive season delivering care and support to people across Somerset who are facing a life-limiting illness. All the money raised during our Sparkle this Christmas campaign will help us to make each day count for patients and their families at this special time of year.”

Meanwhile, Light Up a Life services are taking place between Thursday, November 28, and Monday, December 16, in Yeovil, Taunton, Bridgwater, Street, Watchet, Butleigh, Chard, Burnham-on-Sea and at Millfield Preparatory School, near Glastonbury. The services are an opportunity to pay tribute to cherished family members or friends and light a candle in their memory.

People are invited to commemorate someone special by including their name in the Book of Remembrance, which will be presented at the church services before going on display in the Taunton and Yeovil hospices.
