Playing our Weekly Prize Draw is your chance to make a difference to patients and families facing a life-limiting illness in Somerset. Every ticket counts – and your £1 each week will help us to deliver compassionate care and vital support to those who need it.

Together, our amazing community of Prize Draw players raise an incredible £7,600 every single week. That could pay for someone to receive 24/7 care on our In-Patient Unit for a whole week.

So when you join our Weekly Prize Draw, you know that you’ll be joining something special. Joining an amazing community of supporters who collectively enable us to provide care, compassion and comfort to individuals and their loved ones, when they need it most.

This week's Rollover Prize is £250

Our Weekly Prize Draw takes place every Friday, and is a fun and exciting way to support St Margaret’s Hospice. Not only will you be helping to fund vital hospice care in Somerset, but you'll also have a great chance to win one of our 28 cash prizes every week.

You may have recently read all about our Weekly Prize Draw in the 2024 Spring edition of our Supporter Newsletter. If so, please be advised that within this article there was an accidental typo in relation to our rollover prize. Therefore, we’d like to confirm that within the last 12-month period our rollover prize has reached an incredible £5,000+ on 2 separate occasions.

The draw takes place every Friday (we’ll always give advance notice if the draw day changes) and each chance costs just £1. The first prize is £1,000 with other cash prizes up for grabs every week. Each prize will be won every week apart from our rollover prize.

Our lottery software randomly produces the outcome of the draw using a Random Number Generator and a winning number can only be selected once in the same draw. When we run the draw for our 3^rd prize (rollover) our lottery software reduces the likelihood of winning that prize. If the rollover is not won the prize money is rolled-over to the next draw.

Every ticket purchased has 1 in 445 chance of winning one of our weekly prizes (information based on the average number of players in draws between January 2023 to December 2023).

The exact chance of winning varies each week depending on the number of tickets sold.

St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission under account number 4624.

No under 18s allowed to enter – please note underage gambling is an offence. No prizes will be paid to anyone under the age of 18 years.

Frequently asked questions

How does the draw work?

You will be entered into the draw upon receipt of your first payment, and then every draw as long as you have sufficient credit in your Weekly Prize Draw account. Our lottery software randomly produces the outcome of the draw using a Random Number Generator and a winning number can only be selected once in the same draw.

All prizes are guaranteed to be won each week with the exception of the rollover prize. When we run the draw for our 3^rd prize (rollover) our lottery software reduces the likelihood of winning that prize. If the rollover is not won the prize money is rolled-over to the next draw and the 3^rd prize increases by £250. If the rollover reaches £10,000 we guarantee the prize will be won in that week’s draw.

I subscribe to your weekly prize draw, how will I know if I've won?

There is no need to claim, we’ll automatically post a cheque with your winnings to your home address. We might telephone to check we have your correct details and let you know you’ve won but we will never contact you by text message or ask you provide your bank details.

Is there an age limit?

Yes, you must be over 18 years of age to play and pay by Direct Debit. This is a legal requirement.

Do you have fundraisers and where do they operate?

Yes, we have fundraisers working throughout Somerset promoting our Weekly Prize Draw and they might knock on your door or you might see them working in or outside a local shop or at an event. We’d love it if you could spare them a few minutes of your time for them to tell you about St Margaret’s and our Weekly Draw. Our fundraisers will always have an identification badge and their clothes will normally have our logo. We have measures in place to ensure that they are fundraising in a Covid-secure way so please call us if you want any additional reassurance, or want to discuss anything about them.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel your membership at any time by calling the Lottery Office on 01823 365620 or emailing lottery.office@st-margarets-hospice.org.uk. If you still have credit on your account you will be entered into the draw until your credit expires after which the membership will be cancelled.

Will you telephone me if I subscribe to your draw?

Yes, we may telephone you to check your details when you join, if there are issues with your payment, or to let you know that you’ve won a prize.

I purchased a ticket in one of your shops, how will I know if I've won?

There is no need to claim, a member of the Lottery team will call you to let you know you’ve won a prize and ask for your name and address so we can post you a cheque with your winnings. We will never contact you by text message or ask you to provide your bank details.
