"You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die."

Pictured, Dame Cicely Saunders – founder of the hospice movement – said these words over 50 years ago, but today they mean just as much to us at St Margaret’s as they did then.

Every day we do all that we can to help families make the most of the time they have left together.

But we couldn’t do it without you. Your contribution, however big or small, makes a huge difference to the lives of thousands of people that we care for every year.

Ann Hallett storyWhy your support matters

People like the Hallett family who say how the hospice became a sanctuary for their mum, Ann – where the small gestures of the nurses, underpinned by their clear understanding of her condition, and consistent level of care, made a huge difference to their mum’s final weeks.

“For me what’s clear in my mind is that St Margaret’s was such a positive place for mum to be.”

Read Ann's family's story here.

Ann’s experience and that of her family demonstrate how the ethos of the hospice movement continues to drive all that we do at St Margaret’s today.

If you are able to make a donation so that more people like Ann benefit we’d love to hear from you.
