We’ve partnered with Kwil, an online service that allows you to create your Will from the comfort of your own home. The service is free to use, completely secure and confidential. You can use the online tool or give Kwil’s team of legal specialists a call. Their experts can help you understand the online form, or complete the process on your behalf if that’s easier for you.
You don’t have to leave a gift to us to use the Kwil service, but there is an option to do so if that’s what you’d like. There is a space for you to leave a message about why you are pledging a gift – perhaps in tribute to a loved one.
CLICK HERE TO VISIT ST MARGARET'S HOSPICE'S KWIL PAGE
Then click 'Create your will', which will take you to the online Will-writing tool.
1. The first step to using the tool is to check that you are eligible (for example, you must live in England or Wales). If Kwil considers that your Will is going to be too complicated for the free service – if you own a business overseas, for example – then you will be advised to speak to a solicitor. You can use a partner solicitor suggested by Kwil, your own solicitor if you have one, or find a local one. You can contact the St Margaret’s team if you would like our support: call 01823 365603 or email email@example.com. Our Legacy and Partnerships Officer, Bex Lloyd, will be happy to help you.
2. Next, you will be asked to set up an account with Kwil. They will only ask for basic details at this stage (you can give them more information later) and you will need to set a password. Use this code to create your free will: SMHFREE.
3. Once you’ve signed up, you can work your way through the step-by-step tool. If there’s anything that you don’t understand, don’t forget you can call Kwil to help.
4. When the Will is finished, it will be sent to you via email so that you can print it and have it signed by witnesses. There is a very secure, encrypted area on Kwil’s website called the Lockbox, where you can store a copy of your Will and other details, like passwords and bank account numbers, if you want to.
If you do choose to leave us a gift – thank you.
