Our Trustees

The Board of Trustees is responsible for supervising the management and administration of the charity. The Board meets four times a year, and provides strategic leadership, counsel and advice to the Executive Team.

When required, St Margaret's Hospice will appoint new members to its Trustee Board.

Tom Samuel Trustee St Margaret's Hospice Care

Tom is the Managing Director of Harmonic, a locally based services company which he founded in 2003. His expertise is in growing business through development and execution of a coherent strategy. He is passionate about the wider community benefits which are generated by successful businesses.

 

 

Pat is Head of Commercial Development (Europe) at Clarks. He is responsible for leading and managing the Franchise Business Unit in the UK & ROI through retail chains and online. He has extensive knowledge and experience of sales operations across distribution channels. Pat is a keen traveller, with special interest in South Africa, alongside a variety of other leisure interests, including tennis, running and swimming.

Ritchie is the Director of Connectable, a web design agency in Somerset. His core experience is in the digital industry and he brings expertise across web and social media. Having had personal experience in 2014 of the quality of care offered by the hospice when St Margaret’s Hospice looked after his grandad, he embarked on a charity challenge to run 5km every day for an entire year to raise funds for the hospice.

Kevin Jones specialises in employment law and advises organisations not only in the South West but also across the country. Kevin is also a Trustee for the Bristol Rugby Community Foundation and the Gloucestershire Cricket Trust.

Nick Kennedy Trustee St Margaret's Hospice CareNick has been a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Taunton for more than 20 years. He has been working in NHS commissioning for eight years in Devon and Bristol systems. He has many years of Board level experience for four CCG's, and for a co-operative society and a start up technology company.

Nicky is a Chartered Accountant and Head of Finance at Wells Cathedral where she has been employed since July 2018. Prior to her employment at the Cathedral Nicky worked as an audit manager at Bishop Fleming’s Bristol office specialising in charities and not-for-profit entities. At Wells Cathedral Nicky is responsible for financial leadership, scrutiny and monitoring over the 22 departments in the organisation. Nicky oversees a team of employees and volunteers in the Cathedral finance department and reports regularly to senior management, various management committees and Cathedral Chapter. Nicky has a passion for the development of people and processes and is very much looking forward to applying her skills and knowledge for the benefit of St Margaret’s Hospice.

Tim Treanor is an Anglican priest with a particular interest in accompanying people on their spiritual journey. He served in The Royal Engineers for 23 years and gained wide experience in the UK and abroad, including working alongside civil servants. He is a Pastoral Supervisor and is working towards full accreditation with APSE. St Margaret’s touches the lives of so many people in Somerset at moments of great vulnerability and Tim is delighted to serve as a Trustee.

Pip has been a Public Health Specialist at Somerset County Council for the last four years, with responsibility for assembling and communicating the health and social evidence to help set priorities in health and social care in the county. He previously worked in a similar local authority role in Devon County Council, and as Director of the South West Observatory, again working in evidence to support policy-making. He has also worked as an academic geographer, with research interests in Romania and the Sudan.

Emma Webber Trustee St Margaret's Hospice CareEmma has spent more than 20 years working as a marketing and public relations professional. She has a multi sector background within a diverse range of industries from agriculture, professional services and the arts to, most recently, the independent education sector. As an active member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing she is proactive and committed to her continued professional development and is honoured to have the opportunity to bring her skill set and experience to St Margaret’s Hospice. 

Sue is currently the Chief People Officer at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and has spent over 30 years working in Human Resources and Organisational Development. Her career has included working with a number of public sector employers, Local and Central Government, National Crime Agency, Ambulance and Acute settings and more recently she spent time working with St John in New Zealand as the Deputy Chief Executive for People and Strategy. Throughout her career she has met and worked with so many dedicated people including wonderful volunteers who give so much of their time to support their communities.

Sue is passionate about creating positive cultures and workplaces that value and enable people to thrive, she is privileged to be able to support St Margaret’s Hospice to make a such a difference for the community in Somerset where she lived for many years.

Katy Webler

Katy has twenty-six years’ experience with Save the Children and the UN, across sectors and mostly in Africa and Asia.  She is currently the Fund Director and Head of Project for a Livelihoods and Resilience fund in Afghanistan, providing work and support to millions of vulnerable families. Prior to that she was Director for a multi-donor trust fund in Myanmar, working with local and international organisations to reduce poverty and improve nutrition.  Katy and her family have now returned to the UK, settled in the South West, and Katy is proud to have the opportunity to support St Margaret's Hospice.

James Don Carolis

James has 20 years’ experience as a Management Consultant having spent time in large-scale private sector consulting (with PwC and Kearney) as well as investor-backed start-up through to scale-up business growth. He is currently Director at Arahi, advising private-equity investors (and the businesses they back) on strategy and value creation. James brings expertise in strategy, data and analytics to his role at St Margarets.
