Our Trustees

The Board of Trustees is responsible for supervising the management and administration of the charity. The Board meets four times a year, and provides strategic leadership, counsel and advice to the Executive Team.

Jonathan is Chairman and Founding Partner of Milsted Langdon Chartered Accountants. Outside of work, he is a governor at Richard Huish Sixth Form College and a director of Passion for Somerset. He is married with 3 grown up children and, as often as work permits, enjoys getting back to Cornwall, where he spent the first 19 years of his life.

Glynis retired recently as Chief Executive at Hospiscare, a Devon charity which provides end of life care to over 2,500 people a year. Like St Margaret’s it raises most of its income from the public. Glynis has extensive knowledge of voluntary organisation leadership and management, supported by a Masters in Business Administration and Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Laws by the University of Exeter in 2015 for her work for with Hospiscare.

Peter is a retired Hospital Consultant form Musgrove Park Hospital. He was Medical Director of the Trust for 9 years with an 18 month period as acting Chief Executive. He has developed a strong interest in patient safety leading the Trust’s participation in the Patients Safety Initiative and later played a key role in the national Safer Patients Initiative. He has a strong track record of developing clinical leadership in healthcare.

Pat is Head of Commercial Development (Europe) at Clarks. He is responsible for leading and managing the Franchise Business Unit in the UK & ROI through retail chains and online. He has extensive knowledge and experience of sales operations across distribution channels. Pat is a keen traveller, with special interest in South Africa, alongside a variety of other leisure interests, including tennis, running and swimming.

Libby is a Chartered Surveyor, recently semi-retired. She has extensive property experience, particularly in the retail sector having worked for Clarks Shoes in varying capacities for nearly 30 years on their European portfolio. Libby has been a Trustee of Clarks Pension Fund since 2008 and now Chairs both the C&J Clark Pension Fund and the Clarks Flexible Pension Scheme.

Alison has always had an interest in end of life care since working as an elective in India, which then became a special interest during her years as a GP. Alison moved from General Practice to specialise in palliative medicine, and ultimately she was based in Lichfield working with the local district general hospitals in the area. Alison’s final position before taking retirement was as a lead physician, and acting Medical Director at St Giles’ as well as visiting physician to Queens’ Hospital Burton on Trent.

Kevin Jones specialises in employment law and advises organisations not only in the South West but also across the country. Kevin is also a Trustee for the Bristol Rugby Community Foundation and the Gloucestershire Cricket Trust.

Tom is the Managing Director of Harmonic, a locally based services company which he founded in 2003. His expertise is in growing business through development and execution of a coherent strategy. He is passionate about the wider community benefits which are generated by successful businesses.

Pip has been a Public Health Specialist at Somerset County Council for the last four years, with responsibility for assembling and communicating the health and social evidence to help set priorities in health and social care in the county. He previously worked in a similar local authority role in Devon County Council, and as Director of the South West Observatory, again working in evidence to support policy-making. He has also worked as an academic geographer, with research interests in Romania and the Sudan.

Nicky is a Chartered Accountant and Head of Finance at Wells Cathedral where she has been employed since July 2018. Prior to her employment at the Cathedral Nicky worked as an audit manager at Bishop Fleming’s Bristol office specialising in charities and not-for-profit entities. At Wells Cathedral Nicky is responsible for financial leadership, scrutiny and monitoring over the 22 departments in the organisation. Nicky oversees a team of employees and volunteers in the Cathedral finance department and reports regularly to senior management, various management committees and Cathedral Chapter. Nicky has a passion for the development of people and processes and is very much looking forward to applying her skills and knowledge for the benefit of St Margaret’s Hospice.
