Tribute Fund FAQs

Anyone can set up a tribute fund, but we advise that it is done in agreement with or in the knowledge of the loved one’s family.

Anyone can donate money to your page and grow your fund. However, you might like to send a link to your page to your family, friends and colleagues so that they know where to go to make their donation.

People often start adding to a tribute fund through a funeral collection or one off donation in memory of a loved one. Once a fund has been set up, you can add to it whenever you like, as can your friends and family. Here are some ideas to get you started, but how you grow your tribute fund is entirely up to you:

  • Donations, such as funeral collections
  • Sponsorship from challenges, such as sky dives or treks
  • Taking part in events like our Memory Walk
  • Hosting your own events, from coffee mornings to car washes
  • Celebrating birthdays and anniversaries by lighting a memory candle
  • Setting up a regular gift by direct debit

As well as being able to check online whenever you like, we will send you an annual update with the latest news and developments at the hospice and the total you have raised so far.

Yes, as long as whenever you make a donation or send us fundraising collection proceeds or sponsorship money, you tell us it’s to go into your tribute fund. We won’t assume it is unless you say so. We can also backdate the tribute fund so any previous donations you have made to St Margaret’s can be added to your fund.
