Suitable for

Those looking to gain retail experience. You will need to be able to work as part of a team, be good with people and have a high level of accuracy

Commitment On a rota basis dependent upon availability
Description

You will be expected to support the Manager on duty in the efficient running of the shop. You will help the Manager ensure that targets are met and maximum income is generated from sales of donated goods. You will assist in maintaining good relations with the general public and help to promote the hospice in the area. Typically this role involves:

Emptying bags and boxes of donations and sorting them into saleable/non-saleable goods

Following correct recycling procedures

Preparing goods for sale (tagging, pricing, steaming clothing, washing/polishing bric-a-brac, pricing books etc)

Cleaning/tidying the shop and sorting room

Accepting donations, thanking the donors and enquiring about Gift Aid status

Putting prepared goods out for sale in the allocated areas ensuring compliance with Trading standards as well as Health and Safety

Training

A full induction will be provided which will cover:

  • Health and Safety
  • Confidentiality
  • Completion of appropriate worksheets
