Ernest Proctor and his family completed the Colour Run for St Margaret’s in May and raised over £1,000 in memory of his wife, Doris, who was cared for by the hospice before she died.

Ernest said: “Doris and I used to volunteer at the Yeovil hospice which I really enjoyed. It was a good experience and the staff taught us a lot.
“As well as volunteering at the hospice I also volunteered at my local church and between the two I got a real sense of helping people and it was a great way to give something back to the community. When Doris became unwell, the staff on the In-patient Unit were wonderful and looked after us both so well. They made sure I was eating well and had a comfortable place to sit while I was at Doris’ bedside, it made a big difference to us."
