How will my donation make a difference?
Last year our Community Team made 26,685 visits to patients and loved ones in their own homes. They work 365 days a year, come rain or shine (this year 366!) and the care they provide is 100% free of charge to patients and their families. Therefore, your donation will ensure that our Community Team continue to reach local people facing the challenge of a life-limiting illness, providing critical support and care to our patients and their families and carers.
A day in the life of a Community Nurse could include:
- Administering pain relief & changing dressing to help keep patients comfortable and pain free
- Writing a prescription for medication if needed to save them having to wait for their GP to issue it
- Sourcing mobility aides to make life a little easier
- Providing advice over the phone so no one has to feel alone
- Arranging an appointment with a complementary therapist, such as aromatherapy to help with stress
- Sign posting to our other services like spiritual care or patient and family support if the patient wishes
Whatever is needed to help the individual’s wellbeing and quality of life, the team will do their best to provide it.
