Val Stones joins our Great Somerset Tea Party Great British Bake Off star Val Stones was the special guest at our Great Somerset Tea Party. At the event in our Taunton Sunflower Centre, Clinical Director Joy Milliken presented Val with a badge to mark her new role as a patron of our charity. As well as bringing some homemade cakes to sell in aid of St. Margaret’s, Val judged the hospice’s staff bake off competition. The tea party raised £263. People across the county are holding their own events as part of the Great Somerset Tea Party, which continues throughout the year. Community Fundraiser Kara Frampton said: “Tea parties are one of the small and fun things we can all do to raise money to help make each day count for the people under our care and their loved ones. There’s still plenty of time for neighbours, friends and colleagues to get together to organise their own Great Somerset Tea Party. “We’re very grateful to Val for being part of our event and we’re delighted to have her ongoing support as a patron of our charity.” Val, who lives near Yeovil, said she was honoured to become a patron of St. Margaret’s Hospice and pleased that she has been able to use her profile to help charities since appearing on the Great British Bake Off in 2016. St. Margaret’s Hospice cared for 3,800 people across Somerset affected by a variety of life-limiting illnesses last year.
