Rena & Ian’s Story
"You don’t have to do it all alone. And you don’t have to wait until you’re at breaking point to ask for help. Hospice care is there to make life better, even when time is limited.”

"You don’t have to do it all alone. And you don’t have to wait until you’re at breaking point to ask for help. Hospice care is there to make life better, even when time is limited.”
"Once Bob died, they didn’t just disappear. They continued to be empathetic when everyone else moved on. They understood we were still grieving.”
"They made sure the man I knew kept all the dignity he had always had, as a real gentleman, intact. Priceless.”
"You don’t know what will happen in life, but I know that with St Margaret’s there to help it will be much better than if they weren’t.”
“St Margaret’s offers so much more than end-of-life care. The level of care and excellence in every aspect is unmatched, and people locally don’t realise how fortunate they are to have it.”
“If you’re living with a terminal diagnosis or are supporting someone who does and are worried about using the hospice’s services, my advice would be to not worry and to go for it. The hospice is absolutely fantastic."
"I wasn’t sure what to expect when visiting the Sunflower Day Centre, but everyone was so lovely; the other patients made you feel like you were part of their family. Now, every time I go there, I try to stay as long as possible."
"You all lifted a weight off of our shoulders and gave us time to be a family, to enjoy our time with him and find our joy.”
They took us in, showed us our room, said ‘this is a cuddle bed’, and showed us how it worked – as a single bed that folded out to a double. It was the first time we were all able to cuddle Julie properly since April 2021. It was lovely.
