Our Santa Abseil returns to Cheddar Gorge on Saturday 5 December 2026 for the final time, giving you the chance to face your fears, don a Santa suit and raise vital funds for hospice care across Somerset.
Surrounded by festive music, cheering friends and family and fellow fundraisers, you will make the 60ft descent down Cheddar Gorge – all while dressed as Father Christmas.
No previous abseiling experience is needed, with qualified instructors on hand to provide a full safety briefing and support you throughout your descent.
But behind the festive fun is an important message about courage.
Every day, patients and families supported by St Margaret’s face the challenges of life-limiting illness, uncertainty and loss. By taking on your own challenge at Cheddar Gorge, you will be raising money to help the hospice continue providing compassionate care, comfort and support to people across Somerset, now and always.

We’re asking people across Somerset to take on a challenge of their own this Christmas, pull on a Santa suit and take the leap for their local hospice.
It promises to be a brilliant festive day, and every pound raised will help us continue to be there for local people who need our care and support.”
Registration costs £25, which includes a Santa suit for participants to wear on the day and take home afterwards. Each Santa is asked to raise a minimum of £125 in sponsorship.
Participants must be aged 12 or over, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult booked onto the same abseil wave.
