Yeovil Sunflower Centre

Sunflower Centre Day Hospice

Our Sunflower Centres in Taunton and Yeovil provide specialist care and support for people living with life-limiting illnesses or advanced progressive conditions, helping them maintain independence, manage symptoms and improve their quality of life.

About our Sunflower Centres

Our Sunflower Centre Day Hospices support people in Somerset who are well enough to live at home but would benefit from additional specialist care alongside their usual health and social care services.

Our teams take a holistic approach, supporting your physical, emotional and social wellbeing. We work with you to develop coping strategies, maintain independence and focus on what matters most to you.

Our aim is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where you can access specialist care, enjoy activities and connect with others.

How can our Sunflower Centres help?

Our Sunflower Centres offer a range of specialist support and activities tailored to your individual needs.

This may include:

  • Symptom management: support with managing symptoms and improving comfort
  • Emotional and psychological support: helping you cope with the emotional impact of living with a life-limiting illness
  • Complementary therapies: treatments such as massage, reflexology and relaxation to support wellbeing
  • Physiotherapy: support with movement, mobility and maintaining independence
  • Occupational therapy: practical advice and support to help with everyday activities
  • Spiritual care: support with personal beliefs, values and finding comfort or meaning.
  • Social work and practical advice: including support with benefits and accessing other services
  • Planning for the future: helping you consider your wishes, needs and priorities.

We also offer a range of therapeutic and social activities, including arts and crafts, games, gardening and music.

The support you receive will depend on your individual needs and the goals agreed with your care team.

What to expect from your first visit

On your first visit to the Sunflower Centre, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with a member of our team on a one-to-one basis.

Together, we’ll discuss your needs, what matters most to you and how we can support you. We’ll work with you to create an individual care plan and agree realistic goals.

How often you attend will depend on your needs and the plan we develop together.

Lunch and refreshments are provided, and you’ll have opportunities to take part in activities during your visit.

A family member or carer is welcome to accompany you on your first visit. However, the Sunflower Centre Day Hospice sessions are for patients only. We also offer separate support for families and carers through our other hospice services.

How long can I attend?

The Sunflower Centre is a time-limited service, with attendance based on your individual needs and goals.

When your time at the Sunflower Centre comes to an end, we’ll work with you to identify any ongoing support you may need. Where appropriate, we can refer you to other St Margaret’s services or external organisations.
