Ducks in a Row booklet
You don’t need to be unwell, or even thinking about the future, to get your ducks in a row. This free booklet is for anyone, at any stage of life who wants to make important information easier to find and manage.
From important documents and finances to the people, pets and personal wishes that matter to you, it gives you one practical place to keep track of the details you – or someone you trust – may need.
Getting organised is for everyone
Life can be complicated. Over the years, important information can end up scattered across paperwork, filing cabinets, phones, computers and online accounts. Finding everything when it’s needed can be difficult – particularly for family or friends trying to help.
Our Ducks in a Row booklet is designed to make that easier. It gives you one place to record useful information about your life, from where you keep your Will and birth certificate, to your key contacts, finances, digital accounts and final wishes. You don’t have to be ill, receiving hospice care or facing a particular change in your life to start getting organised. Ducks in a Row is designed for everyone – so you can be prepared should the unexpected happen.
You don’t have to complete it all at once, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Simply work through it in your own time and fill in the sections that are useful to you.
What can I include?
Ducks in a Row covers the practical details people may need to know, as well as the personal things that help them understand what matters to you.
There’s space to record information about you and the people closest to you, including family, friends and useful contacts; your pets and their care; finances, property and significant possessions; where important documents are kept; and your digital legacy, including online accounts, photographs and subscriptions.
The booklet also helps you think about your personal preferences and routines – from the food, music and hobbies you enjoy to the little things that help you feel comfortable and like yourself.
There is also space for your final wishes, including information about your Will, Lasting Power of Attorney and funeral wishes, helping the people closest to you understand what you would like when the time comes.
Keep your booklet somewhere safe
Once completed, your booklet may contain sensitive personal and financial information. Keep it somewhere secure and tell someone you trust where it can be found. It’s also worth returning to it from time to time to make sure the information is still up to date.
