Volunteer at the New Year’s Day Dip

Register your interest to volunteer at our New Year's Day Dip event to help us raise money for the hospice!

The Dip is a well established event in the St Margaret’s calendar! Around 200 brave people start the new year strong with a dip into the sea at Minehead seafront, before warming up with a hot drink. Participants collect sponsorship and the event hopes to raise £10,000 for the hospice.

 

Location: Minehead Beach

Date: Thursday 1 January 2026

Times: 1pm – 4pm

Roles: Registration, serving refreshments, bucket collecting

Why we need you

In order to give our participants a great experience, and to help keep them safe, we need you!

Our volunteers ensure that participants can sign in quickly before getting ready to take the plunge. They can help to keep an eye on the water and alert the medical team if anybody gets into difficulty. Then they can help to serve much needed hot drinks, to help participants warm up after the dip.

This role would suit…

People who enjoy being outside, possibly in all weathers!

Volunteers who live in / near the Minehead area.

People who are able to work fairly quickly and not be fazed by queues of people.

For registration: heppy to use zettle and qflow apps (tablets will be provided)

What we need from you

Complete a light touch application form.

Applicants will need to be 18+ to carry out this volunteer role
