As Director of Income Generation, Emma will lead the teams responsible for fundraising, retail, lottery, philanthropy and supporter engagement. She will play a key role in building the sustainable income needed to deliver the ambitions set out in the hospice’s five-year strategy, Time to Care – Now & Always. The strategy recognises that securing diverse and sustainable income is essential to ensuring more people across Somerset can access hospice care earlier in their illness and continue to receive outstanding support in the years ahead.
Our hospice fundraising teams will come together under Emma’s leadership.
Joanna Hall, Chief Executive of St Margaret’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to welcome Emma to St Margaret’s. She brings a wealth of experience in hospice care, charity retail and income generation, alongside a collaborative leadership style and a genuine passion for supporting local communities.
“I am looking forward to working alongside Emma, and I know she will be a passionate advocate for our income generation teams, helping us build on everything they have already achieved and ensuring we can continue providing outstanding hospice care for our community.”
Emma joins St Margaret’s from Weston Hospicecare, where she held a number of senior leadership roles, including Retail Director, Interim Director of Income Generation, and Head of Marketing and Communications. Before moving into the hospice sector, she developed extensive retail leadership experience with Barnardo’s and the YMCA.
Emma will lead our charity shop teams
Alongside her executive career, Emma is a Board Director of the Charity Retail Association and a school governor, bringing valuable governance experience alongside her operational expertise.
Speaking about her appointment, Emma said:
“I’ve always believed income generation is about people. Every donation, every shop purchase, every fundraising event and every gift in a Will represents someone choosing to support hospice care. I’m looking forward to meeting our supporters and volunteers, understanding what inspires them, and working together to ensure St Margaret’s can continue to be there for families across Somerset for many years to come.
“St Margaret’s has a strong reputation for delivering compassionate care and for the support it receives from its local communities. I’m excited to become part of that, to work alongside colleagues, volunteers and supporters, and to build on the strong foundations already in place.”
Outside work, Emma enjoys spending time with her two young children, gardening and getting lost in a good book. She will begin meeting colleagues, volunteers and supporters across Somerset over the coming weeks as she settles into her new role.
