BLOG: Reflections from our new CEO James Rimmer after his first 2 weeks at St Margaret’s

Our new CEO reflects on his first 2 weeks in his post.

How have your first 2 weeks been at St Margaret’s?

“I have had a warm and generous welcome from the whole team at St Margaret’s over my first couple of weeks so I’d like to start by saying a huge thank you to you all.

The commitment to supporting our patients and our services is clear across staff and volunteers, and across all our teams – clinical, retail and professional services."

Have you been out on any shop visits? If so, how did they go?

“I’ve had the opportunity to visit both of our shops in Taunton and as in other areas of St Margaret’s I was impressed by the team working across the shop, staff and volunteers, and the focus on meeting the needs of our customers.

The shops are clearly passionate about being part of the St Margaret’s team which was wonderful to see."

What have you enjoyed most about your first weeks at the hospice?

I’ve enjoyed the variety of aspects to my role – supporting staff and volunteers, visiting shops and the two hospice hubs in Taunton and Yeovil and chatting to patients and their families."

And finally, what have you learnt about St Margaret’s this week?

“I’ve learnt how passionate and committed the St Margaret’s team are, with every person playing their role to improve the support we are able to give our patients and their loved ones.

This one team approach is something I very much look forward to building upon as I continue to learn more about St Margaret’s, its people and its services."
