Every day, St Margaret’s Hospice goes above and beyond to ensure that every moment counts for our patients and their loved ones. There is nothing new about that – but on 19 June the hospice is going to pull out all the stops and try to achieve something incredible – and raise a whopping £100,000 in just 36 hours!
Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? With just a week to go, it is a huge ask – and one that definitely keeps me awake at night! But as a fundraiser, ambition is important; it’s motivating and infectious and this appeal is not about any one individual – instead it’s about the power of our community pulling together and demonstrating that collectively we can achieve something very special.
As one famous supermarket says, every little really does help! It’s been wonderful to see how this appeal has captured people’s imagination and motivated them to play a role in something so important.
We have St Margaret’s shops getting involved; nurses; long-standing supporters; as well as a running club and a netball team all stepping up and pledging to make a noise on the 19 and 20 June! By reaching out to their networks, whether that’s friends and family or colleagues, teammates or their local communities, together they will help make sure every moment counts during that 36-hour period.

Double the impact!
For every £1 raised, we will unlock another £1, thanks to friends of St Margaret’s who have pledged to double everything that is raised up to £50,000. What an incredible message to share: donations are worth twice as much!
It's not too late to get involved!
If you think you could be a Champion and help us spread the word amongst your business, club or friends and family do let us know.
Alternatively, on the 19 and 20 you can make a difference by popping into one our shops to donate (where you’ll also receive a free Every Moment Counts tote bag – while stocks last) or give online in support of the St Margaret’s Fundraising page.
Now is the time to care
While hospice care is widely recognised for its role in end of life and palliative care, there is less understanding of the role hospices play in helping people to live well for as long as possible – creating special moments that families can cherish for years to come. We have created a beautiful short film, which brings this to life poignantly through the words of patients, family members and friends. Please do watch and share and help us make more moments count:
Right now, your support is even more important than ever. Across the UK, hospices are facing increasing demands on their care. Our population ages, while at the same time costs rise. Funding is not sufficient to cover all our costs. To address the challenges we face here in Somerset, we have launched a brand new strategy called Time to Care – Now & Always, which will guide us through the next five years.
While we receive some government funding, over 75% of what we raise each year comes from you and our wonderful community. With you by our side, we can ensure that St Margaret’s continues to meet the evolving needs of our community, and that we are here for future generations.
Thank you.
