Glorious Gardens 2025 raises £31,471 for St Margaret’s Hospice

Community spirit blooms once again as garden lovers across Somerset and Dorset open their gates for local hospice care

The Southwest was in full bloom this spring and summer as the much-loved Glorious Gardens campaign brought communities together to raise an incredible £31,471 to support St Margaret’s Hospice.

From cottage gardens and allotments to school grounds and stately lawns, over 50 gardens opened across 31 locations, welcoming visitors to explore, relax, and enjoy tea, cake, and conversation – all while helping to fund specialist hospice care in Somerset.

Now in its 8th year, Glorious Gardens continues to celebrate the power of green spaces to connect people, nurture wellbeing, and make a lasting difference for local people facing life-limiting illness.

At St Margaret’s, gardens are more than green spaces – they are living sanctuaries. Our hospice gardens in Taunton and Yeovil are welcoming, calming, and accessible places where patients and their loved ones can spend precious moments together.

Having worked at the Taunton hospice for six years, I’ve heard so many stories of how our gardens support patients and their loved ones. For some, it’s as simple as watching the birds or squirrels from their window; others have enjoyed picking flowers, growing tomatoes, or simply spending time outdoors with visitors.”
Caroline, Head Gardene

It’s this spirit of care and connection that Glorious Gardens celebrates each year:  the understanding that the natural world can make a big difference to someone’s wellbeing.

Every pound raised through Glorious Gardens helps ensure that our patients can receive compassionate, specialist care when they need it most. From nursing visits at home to emotional support for families, the impact of this campaign reaches far beyond the garden gate. We’re so grateful to everyone who opened their gardens, baked cakes, or came along to any of the openings.”
Holly Hackett, Community Partnerships Fundraiser

The 2025 campaign was once again proudly sponsored by Greenslade Taylor Hunt, whose ongoing partnership helps make this much-loved summer event possible.

Looking ahead, we are already inviting gardeners across Somerset to take part in Glorious Gardens 2026.

Whether you have a courtyard, allotment, or country garden, every space can make a difference. We provide everything you need to take part – from posters to publicity – and you’ll be part of a wonderful community helping care to flourish across Somerset.”
