In 2019 Sam Searle signed up for the challenge of a lifetime. Little did she know it would be challenging in more ways than she thought!
Sam signed up for a trek of the Great Wall of China in aid of St Margaret’s Hospice Care, however much like so many plans and events the trek was cancelled because of the pandemic.
But that wasn’t going to stop Sam from raising the £3,000 she had pledged to raise! She had raised the majority of her sponsorship from running events like a tribute pop concert and motorcycle ride as well as asking her friends and family to donate.
When she realised that she wouldn’t be able to go, she checked with everyone who had donated that they were still happy to donate even though it was unlikely she would be able to complete the challenge.
Luckily, they all agreed and said that the money could go to the hospice either way, so Sam didn’t stop and during lockdown still asked friends and family to support to get her to that £3,000 total.
Sam achieved her target and is yet to decide whether she will take part in a challenge in 2022, so watch this space!
