Do you want to make a Will, but have been putting it off? You’re not alone – but don’t worry, St Margaret’s Hospice is here to help.
This March, the hospice is giving you the chance to make or update your Will for free during Make a Will Month. You can make a basic or mirror Will for free, either with one of the local solicitors supporting the campaign or via a new online Will writing service, Kwil.
To take part, visit the St Margaret’s website to find a solicitor near you and contact them directly between 1 and 31 March to make an appointment. There are a limited number of appointments available so please contact your preferred solicitor as early as possible.
An estimated six in 10 adults in the UK have not made a Will stating what they want to happen to their loved ones, money and property when they die. Dying without a Will can mean your assets do not go to the people or causes close to your heart, as well as causing more stress and expense for your loved ones.
Many people choose to leave a gift to charity in their Wills. At St Margaret’s Hospice Care, one in three patients are cared for thanks to gifts in Wills. The hospice has been at the heart of Somerset’s community for over 40 years, delivering high quality, responsive and compassionate care to thousands of patients and families facing a life-limiting illness.
We are so grateful to our local partner solicitors and our new online Will writing partner, Kwil, for supporting this campaign and giving our supporters the opportunity to make or update their Wills for free. We hope that this offer will help many of our supporters who want to prepare for the future to note down their wishes for their legacy."Liam Cottrell, Grants and Major Gifts Manager
“We receive a large amount of our income each year as a result of gifts left by supporters in their Wills, and we are always very grateful for people’s generosity. We know that people want to look after their loved ones first, but many people also choose to leave us a gift in their Will by taking part in Make a Will Month.
“If you do decide to support St Margaret’s in this way, on behalf of our patients, their families and carers, our staff, and volunteers – thank you so much. Your gift makes a huge difference to the thousands of people facing a life limiting illness in Somerset we care for each year.”
