Organise your own event like Geoffrey
Last year 97 year old Geoffrey decided to organise his own fundraising event to help raise funds for the care given to his dear friend Joan, who passed away in March. Inspired by the heroics of Captain Tom he decided to walk a marathon distance over the course of a week to and from his home in Taunton to the Hospice.
Not only did he beat the time he set himself but he raised a fabulous £3,600 at the same time, and became somewhat of a local personality – doing TV interviews and appearing in the local press!
Geoffrey didn’t let his age get in the way and simply set himself a goal and encouraged his friends, family and the wider community to get behind his fundraising efforts!
We helped Geoffrey to set up his Just Giving page and organised for him to speak to the media, as well as supporting him during his sunflower marathon challenge. We are here to help you too.
If you’ve been motivated by Geoffrey and have a personal reason for wanting to support St Margaret’s and organise your own event, we’d love to hear from you.
You are crucial to our work – and we simply couldn’t continue to provide our care without you!
