Movement to Music

Exercises

Being active can help in the management of many long-term conditions, and is helpful in the management of pain, fatigue, depression. It also aids sleep, improves our bone health, improves our balance, flexibility and muscle strength to help with daily activities and prevent injury. The more you can do the better and, where needed, activity can be broken down into smaller sessions, such as 10 minute intervals and completed as frequently as you like. Exercise doesn’t have to be scary but it is important to keep moving, so do what you enjoy, do it at a frequency and intensity that suits you and try to build up your activity levels gradually.

Our Movement to Music video can be done in one session, but we have also broken it down into smaller sections if that’s better for you. This is aimed at those with Lymphoedema (but anyone can do it) and starts and ends with exercises that encourage drainage of the lymphatic system. The exercises can be done seated or standing and each move can be done with a range of movement comfortable to you, if there are any moves you can’t do then you can skip these or do a different movement that’s comfortable for you.

Before you take on any of the exercises below please ensure you have read our exercise disclaimer at the bottom of this page.

Below, you will find smaller sections of the Movement to Music video giving you the option to focus on one area:
