Freedom to Speak Up

Our Freedom to Speak Up team provides confidential, impartial support to help staff and volunteers raise concerns, share ideas and create a culture where everyone feels safe to speak up.

At St Margaret’s Hospice Care, we are committed to creating an open, honest and inclusive culture where people feel safe and supported to speak up.

Freedom to Speak Up encourages staff and volunteers to raise concerns, share ideas for improvement or speak up about anything that gets in the way of delivering safe, compassionate, high-quality care. By listening to and acting on what people tell us, we can learn, improve and provide the very best care for the people and families we support.

Freedom to Speak Up

What is Freedom To Speak Up?

Freedom to Speak Up is an NHS initiative that encourages workers to speak up about anything that could affect patient care, staff wellbeing, safety or the way we work.

Our commitment

We recognise that speaking up plays an important role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting staff wellbeing and helping us continually improve.

We encourage everyone who works or volunteers with us to raise concerns or share ideas without fear of unfair treatment or disadvantage. Speaking up is welcomed and valued, whether it’s about patient safety, workplace culture, behaviours, wellbeing or opportunities to improve the way we work.

Our Freedom to Speak Up team

Our Freedom to Speak Up team provides an independent and confidential source of support for anyone working or volunteering at St Margaret's Hospice Care who wants to raise a concern or discuss an issue.
