At St Margaret’s Hospice Care, we are committed to creating an open, honest and inclusive culture where people feel safe and supported to speak up.
Freedom to Speak Up encourages staff and volunteers to raise concerns, share ideas for improvement or speak up about anything that gets in the way of delivering safe, compassionate, high-quality care. By listening to and acting on what people tell us, we can learn, improve and provide the very best care for the people and families we support.

What is Freedom To Speak Up?
Freedom to Speak Up is an NHS initiative that encourages workers to speak up about anything that could affect patient care, staff wellbeing, safety or the way we work.
Our commitment
We recognise that speaking up plays an important role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting staff wellbeing and helping us continually improve.
We encourage everyone who works or volunteers with us to raise concerns or share ideas without fear of unfair treatment or disadvantage. Speaking up is welcomed and valued, whether it’s about patient safety, workplace culture, behaviours, wellbeing or opportunities to improve the way we work.

St Margaret’s Hospice also has other ways for staff and volunteers to raise queries and concerns, including through Mental Health First Aiders, our HR team, and line managers.
