These gardens are all part of the Greener & Wilder Blagdon Hill community initiative, focusing on wildlife and wellbeing. The garden owners meet on the Blagdon Green for activities including wildflower seeding, butterfly counts, and bat surveys. The gardens vary in size and design, from small colourful cottage gardens to larger formal gardens with streams, ponds, and beautiful views. All the gardens avoid peat and harmful chemicals and provide nectar-rich flowers for insects, water for birds and bees, and shelter in trees and hedges. Highlights for nature enthusiasts include nesting sites for swallows, house martins and kingfishers, an underground rainwater harvesting system, and picturesque walks along the stream. Start your day at any of the 10 gardens and collect your map, which will also serve as your entrance ticket. Refreshments will be available in five of the gardens, so do stop for a slice of cake in between browsing the gardens.
