Fancy getting out with your mates, stretching your legs and doing something a bit different?
Join us on Saturday 6 March 2027 for the first St Margaret’s Hospice Men’s Walk.
We’ll be walking eight miles from our Taunton hospice to Wellington Rugby Club, where we’ll be rewarded with a well-earned pasty, a drink, and the Six Nations on the big screen.

Sometimes showing up matters more than knowing what to say
When life gets tough, it isn’t always easy to talk about what’s going on.
You might be dealing with an illness yourself, supporting someone close to you, or grieving someone who’s died. Or perhaps you’ve noticed a mate having a difficult time and aren’t quite sure how to help.
You don’t always need to have the right words. Sometimes a chat, a listening ear or simply spending time together can make a difference.
That’s what the Men’s Walk is all about. Making time for each other, looking out for your mates, and remembering that you don’t always have to put on a brave face.
Along the way, you’ll be raising money for St Margaret’s Hospice to help people facing life-limiting illnesses and their families across Somerset.
So bring your friends, your dad, your brother, or come along on your own. You might be walking in memory of someone, supporting a friend, or just looking for a good day out for a great cause – either way, there’s a place for you.
Walking in memory of Jon
He remembers one of their final visits, when he took his children to see their grandad. As Jon hugged them, Dave realised he was saying goodbye.
"That was the first time I got emotional over it," he says. "I’m not one for getting emotional.”
After Jon died, Dave decided to take on a walking challenge in his memory. It gave him something to focus on, a way to remember the man who had been a father to him, and an opportunity to support the hospice that had cared for Jon.
"It gives you something to focus on, even if your mind's scrambled. It's about keeping them with us without them being here."
Who will you walk beside?
Whoever you walk with, and whatever your reason for taking part, we'd love you to join us.
