Donating Goods

Please note: With effect from Monday 23 March, all St Margaret’s Hospice Care shops across Somerset are temporarily closed until further notice. For more information, click here.


Most items sold in our shops are donated by the local community. We are always in need of good quality saleable items of clothing, books, china, glass, jewellery and furniture which are accepted in all of our shops.

For larger items of furniture we offer a free collection service.

Unfortunately there are some items we can not accept, for ease please use the guidance below:



Hats, bags, accessories and shoes


China and kitchenware

Collectables, pictures and ornaments

Soft furnishings, rugs, curtains etc

Toys and games

Books, CD's and vinyl records

DVD and console games

Musical instruments

Camera equipment

Small electrical items


Prams, pushchairs and buggies


Cots, carry costs and playpens

Baby baths, bouncing harnesses and baby walkers


Upholstered furniture without a fire label (unless antique or horse-hair filled)

Gas appliances, stoves (paraffin or gas), heaters (electric or gas)

Electric blankets

Electric showers

Sun beds

White goods (fridges, dishwashers, etc)

Buoyancy aids, lifejackets, inflatable dinghies

Safety helmets, riding hats, cycle helmets, crash helmets

Handmade toys or toys without the CE mark

Home recorded DVDs

Home recorded games and software

Video and audio tapes (VCR)

Sharp knifes or weapons

Guns and ammunition (including replica guns)

Food items
