Fundraisers turn out for Virtual Colour Run fun for St Margaret’s Hospice Care

Fundraisers turned out in force for St Margaret’s first ever virtual colour run to cover themselves in colourful powdered paint over the August Bank Holiday weekend, creating a rainbow extravaganza while raising vital funds for St Margaret’s Hospice Care.

To celebrate St Margaret’s Hospice Care’s 40th anniversary, supporters completed a run of any distance from their own homes, whilst adhering to government guidelines to help spread a rainbow of joy by wearing the brightest colours possible before celebrating at the finish line with a colourful paint party.

Sonia Bateman, Events Fundraiser at St Margaret’s, said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in virtual colour run last weekend. It was wonderful to see everyone’s pictures on social media having such a fun time. The money raised by our fantastic supporters will help us continue caring for people across Somerset who are facing a life-limiting illness, which we couldn’t do without the generous support of our local community.

If you missed out last weekend - you can still sign up to take part and host your own virtual colour run from home, whenever suits you, it’s a perfect opportunity for all the family to still have a fantastic time this summer while doing something amazing for your local community. By taking part and raising sponsorship, you can help to ensure over 4,900 people facing a life-limiting illness across Somerset receive the care and support they need this year.”

Any sponsorship raised from family, friends and colleagues goes towards the care and support St Margaret’s nurses, therapists and doctors provide for our patients and their families. £30 could help towards the cost of books and soft toys that can be used to prepare a child for the loss of someone they love.

The Virtual Colour Run is proudly sponsored by Western Power Distribution. Please follow all current government guidance regarding groups and social distancing.

Places cost £15 for adults, £10 for children aged five to 16. Each entrant will receive a welcome pack which includes; a packet of biodegradable paint for your paint party and a Colour Run finisher’s medal to celebrate your fundraising achievements in style!
