Hardy fundraisers clambered over logs, crawled under cargo nets and splashed through water in support of St Margaret’s Hospice Care.
Our Up, Down & Dirty event saw around 150 people lining up to complete a 5km, 10km or 15km obstacle fun run at Aldon, Yeovil, on Sunday 17 November.
Participants were encouraged to raise sponsorship to help St Margaret’s care for local patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
Among the fundraisers who braved the mud and water was Jon Witney, who said:
It was hard but it was a massive amount of fun for an amazing cause. I support St Margaret’s because a very dear friend of mine passed away a few years back, and the end of life care they gave him was absolutely phenomenal. At an incredibly tricky time, they just made everything as comfortable and easy as it could be for him, his family and friends. It was so appreciated by everyone.
Events fundraiser Sonia Bateman said:
We had a brilliant day. We were really lucky with the weather and everybody had a great time. We would like to thank everyone who took part in Up, Down & Dirty or came along to support, as well as all our volunteers who helped to make the day go smoothly. The money raised will help St Margaret’s to continue providing compassionate care to people across Somerset who need our support.
