Donate to our Summer Appeal

None of us can predict the future – will you help us support others facing the unknown?

My name is Evelyn – I’ve been caring for patients with St Margaret’s for the past five years. And the last few weeks have shown me just what a life-line the hospice is to so many people.

When I talk to my patients and their families, one of the things they value most about the care we give is that we are always at the end of the phone - they can reach us 24 hours a day, with whatever is worrying them. And when we can’t help, we refer them to other health professionals that can. We never want to leave anyone to struggle on without the help they need.

The response to our recent urgent appeal has been wonderful – a huge thank you if you were one of those who donated. Right now, those vital funds are enabling me and my colleagues to keep on delivering care at this difficult time.

No matter what life throws at us next, we want to ensure that dying people in our community receive the best care available, when they need it, wherever they are in Somerset.

That’s why today I am asking you to consider making a regular gift to the hospice to help us be that life-line in the years to come. By giving a gift of just £5 each month, you will help provide a solid financial foundation for the future so we can keep on being there for people who need us during the most difficult times of their lives.

Please, if you can, sign up to a regular gift today.

Evelyn Summer Appeal 2020

It’s so important to actually be able to speak to someone – and someone who’s kind, who really listens to you. I know from going through it myself, how much that means when you’re feeling worried and upset. When my father-in-law was at the end of his life I called the adviceline many times, especially at night. You can feel so lonely and anxious when you care for a loved one who is dying. Even as a hospice professional, I needed, reassurance and help to be organised. St Margaret’s provided that for me and my family…with a lot of kindness throughout.

Evelyn shares her own experience of the adviceline.
