In the course of delivering high quality, responsive and compassionate care for patients, our clinical teams are involved in a wide range of research projects which we hope will lead to further advances in palliative care.
The St Margaret’s Research Group has been established to provide oversight of our research activity and encourage participation in relevant projects. We also work with other hospices in the South West to share ideas and support each other.
Hospice Consultant Kate Shorthose said: “As clinicians and carers, knowing that you are able to deliver the best possible care at a time of life that is precious is incredibly important and it is reassuring to know that the care we deliver is based on robust evidence gathered through good quality research.“
“For patients and family members, it is very reassuring to know that as a community of healthcare professionals we are striving to constantly improve the care we deliver, but also look at our practice openly and be able to continually learn.”
