Professor Max Watson Professor Max Watson, palliative care clinician and Director of Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) at Hospice UK in London. Since 2014 he has been pioneering Project ECHO methodology as a means of ‘democratising medical knowledge’, tele-mentoring and building communities of practice. Brought up in Belfast, Max studied theology at New College in Edinburgh before being ordained to work in Nepal for 8 years. From the time of his early life in Belfast seeking a ‘spirituality beyond words’ has been very important to him. Brought up in the troubles in Belfast the son of one of the local daily newspaper editors, Professor Watson studied New College in Edinburgh then medicine before being ordained to work in Nepal for 8 years. Returning to complete palliative care training in the UK and then travelling around the world on the ticket of palliative care teaching.
