This March, you could find peace of mind by taking advantage of our Free Will Month. Solicitors across the county are supporting St Margaret’s Hospice Care by generously waiving their usual fee for writing or updating a basic single or mirror will.
You can make or update your will during our Free Will Month this March, anyone can make a basic single or mirror will for free, either with one of the local solicitors supporting the campaign or via a new online will writing service.
To take part visit our Free Will Month webpage to access the online will writing service or to find a solicitor near you and contact them directly between 1 and 31 March 2021. There are only a limited number of appointments so please contact your preferred solicitor as early as possible and appointments are available in line with current government guidelines.
An estimated 6 in 10 adults in the UK have not made a will stating what they want to happen to their money and property when they die. Dying without a will can mean your assets do not go to the people or causes close to your heart, as well as causing more stress and expense for your loved ones.
Many people choose to leave a legacy gift to charity in their wills. At St Margaret’s Hospice Care, 1 in 3 patients are cared for thanks to gifts in wills. The charity has been at the heart of Somerset’s community for over 40 years, delivering high quality, responsive and compassionate care to thousands of patients and families facing a life-limiting illness.
Kat Watts, St Margaret’s Hospice Care Grants and Majors Gifts Manager commented “We are so grateful to our local partner solicitors and our new online will writing partner Kwil for enabling our supporters the opportunity to make or update their wills for free. We really hope, at this difficult time, that this offer will help many of our supporters who wish to prepare for the future and to note down their wishes for their future legacy.”
“We receive a large amount of our income each year as a result of gifts which supporters have left us in their wills and are always overwhelmed by people’s generosity. We know that people will want to look after their loved ones first, but many people choose to leave us a gift in their will as a result of taking part. If you do choose to support to St Margaret’s in this way, on behalf of our patients, their families and carers, our staff, and volunteers - thank you so much. Your gift makes a huge difference to the thousands of people facing a life limiting illness in Somerset each year.”
