  2. Self navigated walk with route guide book and safety marshalls
  3. Four checkpoints with drinks and snacks
  4. Hot meal at the finish line with a glass of prosecco
  5. First aiders at each site and professional medical provision.

Your booking fee only covers the cost of staging the event, and we hope you will join us in fundraising as much as possible for St Margaret’s Hospice.

We suggest a minimum pledge of £300 per person, which is only £10 per mile!

No, the route is self-led and you will be provided with the following to help you navigate:

  • Strava link so that you can access the route on your smartphone
  • Paper route maps
  • Step by step instructions, with key landmarks and checkpoints.

Assuming your breaks total no more than two hours, you will need to walk at 3mph on average in order to finish the hike before the cut off.

This is a new event for St Margaret’s Hospice and we are only offering the full 30 mile route this year. If you wish to join the hike from the start and arrange to be collected at one of the checkpoints, you’re very welcome to do so but you won’t receive a medal. Please ensure you let a member of the team know if you leave the route early, so we don’t send out a search party!

We don’t encourage dogs to join this event; it’s a long route and there may be some livestock in certain areas. Ultimately, it’s your choice and dogs won’t be turned away. Your dog remains your responsibility at all times and must be picked up after.

Walking 30 miles in one day is not for the faint hearted! Even if you’re fit and well, we recommend training for this event and will send some suggested plans and advice once you’ve booked on to the hike. We advise you to complete some walks in similar terrain and practise carrying a rucksack.

Participants must be age 16 or over, and any participant under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

For your safety, there will be a cut off point for leaving each checkpoint to ensure that all walkers arrive at the finish line before nightfall. This will be communicated with all participants prior to the event.

At the time of booking, you can purchase an optional bus ticket which will take you from Taunton Hospice (finish line) to Yeovil Hospice (start line). This will leave Taunton Hospice at 5.30am.

No other transport will be provided, unless in the case of an emergency.
