Hundreds of Christmas trees have been collected and recycled across Somerset raising more than £5,000 for St Margaret’s Hospice Care.
St Margaret’s Hospice teamed up with Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) to collect trees on Saturday, 15 January and Sunday, 16 January in return for a donation to help them to continue to support patients and their families across Somerset.
Teams of dedicated volunteers were out in force over the weekend collecting hundreds of Christmas trees and taking them to be chipped at drop off points across the county. Trees were collected from postcodes in Taunton by St Margaret’s and CHSW and St Margaret’s teams also picked up trees in postcodes in Wellington, Bridgwater, Yeovil, Wells and Wiveliscombe.

“We’d like to say a massive thank you to the local people and businesses who donated their time and vehicles this weekend. As well as our volunteers, a thank you to everyone who registered their tree for collection, the money raised will make a real difference in our community. We’re already looking forward to next year!"
