“People supporting people”
St Margaret’s Hospice signs Armed Forces Covenant
We are proud to announce ourcommitment to supporting the Armed Forces community in Somerset by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. This voluntary pledge demonstrates St Margaret’s dedication to recognising and supporting service personnel—both regular and reservists—service leavers, veterans, and their families, ensuring they are treated fairly and without disadvantage.
By signing the Covenant, St Margaret’s joins 1,237 organisations in the Southwest, tailoring its commitment to the unique needs of the Armed Forces community. The Covenant aligns with the hospice’s mission to provide clinical and therapeutic care at no cost to patients, while also fostering equal opportunities within recruitment, staffing, and a flexible working environment. The hospice is particularly mindful of the demands placed on service personnel and their families.
St Margaret’s puts people at the heart of everything we do and signing the covnenat reinforces people supporting people. This sentiment was noted by James Rimmer, CEO of St Margaret’s, “Over 10% of us have direct connections to the Armed Forces, even more when you consider friends, relatives and relatives through the generations. We are honored to be part of such a beneficial programme. We have veterans here and also staff, friends and associates who will be able to take advantage of it”.
Lieutenant Colonel, Dave Thomas expressed his support “It is a real pleasure to be able to countersign the Covenant, particularly with St Margaret’s coming on board. As the Commanding Officer 243 Multi-role Medical Regiment and Chief Nursing Information Officer at NHS Foundation Trust to know that St Margaret’s will be offering the support that our support that the Armed Forces Community need, is very encouraging”.
