Lace up your running shoes and get ready for a vibrant fiesta of colour, fun, and community spirit as the St Margaret’s Colour Run returns to Taunton Racecourse on Saturday, 18th May.
Proudly sponsored by Mogers Drewett, this colourful extravaganza promises to be an unforgettable day out for all the family! Dress up in your Colour Run t-shirt, slip on those neon tutus and headbands, and join hundreds of people across Somerset for a 4km run filled with powder paint, foam, and glitter galore.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner or are looking to enjoy a colourful stroll with your family, this exciting challenge is a great opportunity for you to come together with your loved ones, have fun and support your local hospice. Apple FM will be there on the day to entertain you as you make your way around the course adding to the atmosphere.
Avid runner and St Margaret’s supporter, Jon Witney, will be among the participants taking part in this year’s Colour Run with his daughter, Jessie, and said he ‘couldn’t be more excited to get back to the racecourse’ as it’s ‘a great excuse to get messy and do something fun with a great story behind it.’
“The Colour Run is like nothing I’ve ever done before. It has this incredibly warm atmosphere which gives you the feel-good factor!” Jon said. “It’s the 8th time I’ll be taking part and it’s always great fun! We go as a family every year, and it’s been a terrific thing for us to do with our daughters as they’ve grown up.
“Everyone puts on these amazing colourful outfits and are always smiling and laughing! And when you are running round, you get cheered on at the paint stations and pelted with colourful powdered paint which is great fun.
“I take part in the Colour Run to give back to the hospice and thank them for the amazing support they gave to my best mate, Woody, and my Dad, John. The support the hospice gave to my Dad was a different level of care. It was astounding.
“When Woody was in the hospice, all of the nurses made us feel so welcome. They understood the situation we were in and couldn’t do enough for us and Woody. And it was no different at home when my dad needed care. They brought the loving care of the hospice into my Mum and Dad’s home and gave us all nothing but love, care and attention in Dad’s final few weeks.
“If you haven’t taken part in the Colour Run before, try it! You won’t be disappointed. People of all ages take part and always have smiles on their faces, it’s a fantastic event and we’d love for you to join us!”
And the excitement doesn’t stop there! This year marks the debut of The Bubble Toddle, a delightful new addition to the Colour Run event, tailored to our littlest of fundraisers!
A 200m dash designed for children aged from 18 months up to 5 years old, this enchanting experience invites toddlers to run, skip, or toddle through a magical bubble wonderland! Every bubbly participant will receive a certificate and a prize.
Following the excitement of the running events, you can continue the day’s festivities at the hospice’s Family Fun Day village at the racecourse. The village will be jampacked with stalls, inflatables, games and delicious food and drink. It’s free to attend, is a perfect way to celebrate your running achievement and is an amazing way to support St Margaret's.
